Hemoglobin and Hematocrit
1187

This test for anemia measures hemoglobin and hematocrit. Hemoglobin is the oxygen-carrying compound in the blood; hematocrit is the percent of red blood cells in the blood.  Values below normal for either of these tests indicate anemia.  Anemia can cause feelings of fatigue and is caused by a variety of diseases, nutritional deficiencies (such as not enough iron) or medical problems such as blood loss.  Your results for these tests will be reported to you along with reference values (the upper and lower limits for most healthy people of your age and sex), an interpretation of your results and general recommendations.

Iron Deficiency Panel
FEPAN

Iron deficiency is a very common cause of anemia.   Iron deficiency can be caused by inadequate iron in the diet or by blood loss. The tests for iron deficiency include iron concentration in the blood, ferritin, total iron binding capacity (TIBC) and percent saturation of transferrin.  Ferritin is a compound that serves to store iron and the amount present in the blood reflects the total body stores of iron.  Transferrin is a carrier protein for iron.  The results of these tests will be reported to you with an interpretation of your iron status and general recommendations.
